Uganda Before Imperialism
- Uganda was isolated from the rest of the world since most trading activity occurred in the coasts of the African continent.
- Its favorable climate made it attractive to Bantu-speaking people, whom have been discovered to have engaged in agriculture about 1000 BC.
- Iron working was also traced back to CE 1000.
- In the 1500’s the dynasties of Buganda, Bunyoro and Ankole were founded by the Nilotic-speaking immigrants from present day Sundan.
- Between the 17th and 18th Century, profitable trade with the Sudanese Slave trade emerged.
- Then, in the 19th Century these kingdoms allied themselves with powerful Shirazis of Zanzibar.
